Liz Jones: Internationale Vrouwendag in Theater De Garage

Om 15.00 uur hebben we een mooi optreden staan van Liz Jones.

Live in the Dams is in Nederland opgenomen. Blues, soul en een vleugje rock komen samen in haar muziek.
Met haar expressieve stem, eerlijke teksten en oprechte energie weet ze elk publiek te raken. Haar sound is puur, eerlijk en doordrenkt van levenservaring; een muzikale reis door hart en ziel. Haar muziek wordt veelvuldig op BBC2 en Radio Scotland gedraaid.

We laten haar zelf even aan het woord:
“I’m Liz Jones, and I am a musician, songwriter, tour manager, designer and administrator for myself and my band! I’m based in Edinburgh, Scotland, where I have found a welcoming music community and an affordable life. In the roots, blues and folks world, I write songs, produce albums, and tour both solo and with other musicians.

For International Women’s Day, I’ll be discussing life as a music maker in 2026. The music industry has become very tough, for everyone that doesn’t have huge access to money. Yet, at this stage of my life as a woman approaching 40, I decided to stop all other work and focus on music, which is considered madness by many. The challenges more so (but not exclusively) as a woman, lie in high expectations of skill, flexibility, often lower fees, and a traditionally agist industry. The lovers of live music, real instrument music and songwriting see beyond these things, but with social media and agencies/bookers looking more and more for online proof of followers, clicks and likes, a shallower world, the challenges get harder every year.
